The strength of Live Stage Marnix

Live Stage Marnix is a succes, due to a number of factors:

  • Location: The Cultura building lies right in the centre of a small provincial town, in a region where a singer-songwriter stage is unique.
  • An enthousiastic crew consisting of singer-songwriters, musicians and afeccionados of the genre
  • Skilled sound and light technicians using high quality gear
  • And of course a parade of talented singer-songwriters that guarantee a memorable concert

The name Live Stage Marnix

The name is based on historical facts. The stage started in a buildig that used to house the "Marnix College" in Ede. This highschool took its name from "Phillippe de Marnix, seigneur de Sainte-Aldegonde" (1540-1598). He was a Dutch writer, politician, scientist, and aide to Willem van Oranje, founding father of the Dutch royal family. Marnix is mostly remembered as the author of the "Wilhelmus", the Dutch National Anthem. In that capacity he may be considered as the first Dutch singer-songwriter, though little is known on the quality of his vocals
